Foundation Crisis

Many of you saw that I posted on my Instagram yesterday (@beautyandablog) about me picking up a full size Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Ecru. I also filmed, edited and posted a video talking about this specific shade. You can see the video here. Unfortunately I am suuuuuper disappointed. It's an extremely long story BUT I feel like it needs to be explained. Don't get me wrong, I still am absolutely in love with this foundation and the formula, but you'll understand why I'm disappointed in a moment. So I got a sample of Ecru which matched me PERFECTLY, I ran out of the sample and decided to get a full size. After filming and such, I for some reason had a feeling I should swatch it.
Turns out the full size was significantly darker than the sample. I asked for help as to why this was and people gave me explanations as to possible oxidization or possible formula change, but I decided to go to the Estee Lauder counter myself to get to the bottom of this. Odd enough, the employees had NO idea why this was they even checked their own full size bottles and it matched my full size bottle; however, the foundation that they had to give out as samples for Ecru was the exact same, lighter shade as the sample I previously had. I am so upset that I can't get my match all because they have 2 completely different shades - one as a sample that doesnt even match the shade, and then the shade itself. I hope all of this is making sense because I know it's very confusing. I'm just super frustrated 😩

The picture above was taken yesterday. I know the lighting is really bad so both of these shades look too dark for me, but the bottom shade actually matches me perfectly. The top shade is from the full size bottle and the bottom is from the sample. Both foundations are Ecru. So I exchanged the darker Ecru and now have to use a lighter shade foundation because they dont have Ecru in the same shade as their Ecru sample. 😔 Has this happened to anyone else ?!?

Now, below are swatches of Ivory Nude (the foundation I exchanged Ecru for) and you can clearly tell its a little too yellow for my skin tone. The middle is what I could scrape out of my first sample and the bottom is the new sample of Ecru they gave me. You can see both of the Ecru samples are the same, but are different from the full size Ecru. 😩😔 So now what does a girl do? Am I supposed to just keep asking for samples of Ecru since that's my match? Or do I go with the lighter shade that is too yellow for me?

YouTube in the Future?

I have been contemplating on making a YouTube channel for awhile now but I'm not sure what all of you think about it. I want to know your opinions on me making a YouTube channel and what kind of videos you'd like to see if you like the idea. It would take me some time to get all of the equipment for making the videos so it won't be tomorrow that I'll have videos up, but definitely within the next few months to give me some time to get a good camera, lighting, and editing software. So tell me your thoughts on this. If you don't like the idea of me making videos and just want to keep reading my blog, I understand. I just want to keep doing what all of you are comfortable with. Even if I do create a YouTube channel, I will still be keeping my blog and posting often. Let me know :)

7 Favorite Beauty Gurus

YouTube has blown up within the past few years.  wasn't a huge YouTube video person until recently, but these are the beauty gurus I have grown to love for all different reasons. Maybe you'll be fans of theirs too :) Here are some of my favorite YouTube beauty gurus (they're in no particular order).

1. Nicole Guerriero
She is just gorgeous beyond words and from her personality through her videos, she is just the sweetest person! If I ever met her, we would instantly become BFFs, no doubt about it! Her taste is much like my own.
2. Jaclyn Hill
Her personality just jumps right through the screen. She is animated and funny and her makeup is always on point. She is another one I would definitely want to become best friends with.
3. Kathleen Lights
Some of the things she says just makes me laugh to no extent. I just recently started watching her so I don't have too much to say, but from what I've seen so far I love her personality. Okay, can I just say I want to become BFFs with all of them to make this easy? Lol
4. Rosita Applebum
That contour thoughhhhh! She just seems so nice and her videos are very helpful. She's another YouTuber I recently subscribed to so I don't have much to say about her except that she's beautiful! She also reminds me of a lot of people I know so I feel like I would connect with her pretty well. She has great taste in makeup too.
5. Carli Bybel
Dear lawwwwwwdd girl! This is probably my favorite picture of her. Not only is she a beauty guru but she is a fashionista as well. Her outfits are always on point. Like can I have your face...and your closet? Lol. Flawless girl, flawless.

6. SMLx0
She is actually the first beauty guru I ever started watching. She's another one that always has the cutest effing clothes #jealous. She has piercing blue-ish grey eyes and is just all around gorgeous. Ugh, can I be you? Teach me your waayyyss. And take me shopping :)
7. Eleventh Gorgeous
"Hey guysssssss" is their opening line and I love it. They're very catchy and clever in their videos and it just makes me laugh the whole time. They're like a dynamic duo I just recently started watching these two, Stefanie and Tracy and I love them already.

Feeding Your Goals; Empowerment & Loving Yourself

I am going to try to post a blog about the videos I post on YouTube so they coincide! Two nights ago I posted a video about empowerment, going for your goals, and loving yourself. The post was inspired by a video I saw on YouTube by Shamy Slefo named "I'm Too Syndrome" which is basically explaining that people make up excuses starting with "I'm too ______". I'm too tired, I'm too inexperienced, I'm too uneducated, I'm too broke, I'm too - whatever other excuses you could possibly think of!

(I did not copy right her video, I just wanted to add my thoughts to it because of how much I loved her video. Her video was an inspiration. In no way did I intend to copy right. She is the original creator of the "I'm Too Syndrome" video)

Shamy Slefo's Video

My Video

This video hit home for me and I decided to post a video about it myself. The reason it was so relatable is because I was in that exact same mind-frame when it came to making this blog and YouTube videos! I was so nervous wondering if i would have the time and I was worried about not really knowing the in's and out's of the virtual blogging and YouTube world. I was afraid about what people would think or say until one day I pushed my fear and insecurity aside and said "This is what I want to do, so I'm going to do it!". Although I'm still learning new things about blogging and how to get my blog noticed, and different effects on YouTube, I'm learning as I go and that's okay. Even the greatest experts had to start somewhere, right?

The only barrier in your life is YOU! I was my own barrier and now that I've stepped out of my comfort zone, I'm absolutely loving what I do! You are the only person standing in the way of reaching your goals. In my video, I explain you need to take the necessary steps in order to reach that goal; whether it's baby steps or jumping in head first. I always thought in order to be successful, you had to dive right in, but that is NOT the case. If you are working full-time, or a mother, both, or just a busy person in general - take baby steps. You may have other responsibilities, but your goals are still attainable! Doing one small thing to work towards your goal everyday will make you that much closer than you were the day before! It is such a good feeling being productive rather than sitting at home all day watching Netflix (which is something I'm guilty of prior to going for my own goals).

Keep your head up! I know things get tough and stressful sometimes and there are times when you feel like you have too much on your plate, but once you reach that goal - I promise you will be thrilled with the outcome. I never imagined having a blog that has 150+ views in a month (which hopefully continues to increase). So I want to thank you all for viewing my blog and really making me believe in myself. My first post was about Pinterest and after I did that post, I stopped posting for about a month because I didn't really think this blog thing was going anywhere. So, I told myself I was going to post a few more times and see what happened, and if I didn't like the results, I was going to stop. But, you all changed my mind because after I posted about Mane and Tail and wearing prints, my views sky rocketed! That was a sign that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. So thank you ALL!

Please don't give up on your dreams because we need more people to do great things in this life. My favorite quote when it comes to reaching your goals is, "You always miss 100% of the shots you don't take". This is a quote that was in my 8th grade classroom years ago and it has always stuck with me. If you don't try, you'll never know just how great you could be. So please, stop with the crazy excuses and just DO!

If you stopped going to school and want to go back - GO! Find out what you'd like to go back for and then make the first step of getting enrolled, then register for some classes. If you work full-time, try to do school part-time, like one or two classes at a time. See if the school offers weekend classes or night classes to accommodate your schedule.

If you don't feel like school is for you and you want to do something more towards the arts - DO IT! Get on YouTube and start making some videos; SO many people get famous from making YouTube videos - or even Vine videos.

If you want to start a business - GO FOR IT! Find out the necessary steps to take in order to start a business. Start off small and eventually build it into a franchise, or a bigger corporation. If you know someone in the particular field you want to start a business in, shadow them or just sit and talk to them to find out about what they did to get to where they are today. Anything is helpful.

Do some research, send some e-mails, just take initiative! Starting somewhere is better than staying where you are. Move forward or you'll never get to your destination. Stop telling yourself  negative "You're too _____" statements. Tell yourself you're too great not to at least try. It is better to try and fail than regret not trying at all!

On another note, everyone has something they don't like about themselves, but try to learn to love yourself inside and out; from head to toe. Your exterior doesn't affect your personality. You are still the same person no matter what people think. You are beautiful the way you are. You were made exactly the way you are for a reason. Stop listening to other's opinions and negativity and don't change a damn thing about your pretty little self! Especially not for someone else. If you are going to change yourself, do it for YOU!

Love yourself and go after your dreams. They don't call it dream chasin' for nothin'!
