Herbivore Skincare Review - Hydrate & Glow

Anyone else on a skincare kick? Ever since I got a facial for my birthday (shout out to all my Capricorns!) I have been. I’m also 26 this year so I’m over that quarter of a century mark so I deemed 2019 the year or skincare & hair care. I want to preserve my youthfulness and prevent all unwanted fine lines and wrinkles.

After the facial I went HAM on Sephora’s website on skincare products. The one that caught my eye the most was this Herbivore set. I think it may have been the pretty light pink color that initially attracted me. The set is priced at $39 and is said to have a value of $51, a savings of $12. It includes 4 products:

Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Cream
Phoenix Cell Regenerating Facial Oil
Brighten Pineapple Enzyme + Gemstone Instant Glow Mask
and Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist

The face mist is the first product I heard about from this brand so I’ll start with that one. First of all the packaging is phenomenal, on point! It’s a glass bottle which makes it feel very luxurious and the pink product is gorgeous, very “instagramable” and the label is very simple and chic. The scent is more floral than coconut I would say, hence “rose” and “hibiscus” and I do agree with the hydrating part too. This is something that’s definitely been included in my daily routine now.

The moisture cream is probably my favorite out of the 4. I’ve seen this on YouTube a lot lately and I can see why it’s getting so much hype. It’s a really lightweight moisturizer that absorbs super quickly into the skin - legit like a cloud. And it doesn’t leave a tackiness or residue which is always a plus.

For the mask, I’ve only used this product once so far since I’ve only had this set for about 2 weeks. My skin doesn’t necessarily need “brightening” per se so I don’t see myself purchasing a full size of this for myself since my main skin concern is dryness. However for those of you that are looking for a brightening mask, the product is a nice consistency, definitely worth a try!

Last but not least, the facial oil. Just gonna put this out there so you’re not scared if you recently purchased this product - it is orange. 100% orange straight out of the bottle, BUT once you massage it into your skin the orange goes away. Even with dry skin it’s difficult for me to find facial oils that don’t stay oily on my skin and makes my skin feel slimy - anyone else? Luckily this one doesn’t! It takes about a minute for it to absorb but once it’s absorbed my skin feels hydrated and not oily.

Herbivore has a lot more products than what is mentioned above, they actually have another mini set which I'm thinking about investing in so I can try more of their products. Have you tried their products? What are your thoughts?

Stila Liquid Eyeshadow Review: Glitter On The Go Set

Sephora has a Stila gift set on their website called Glitter On The Go Set for ($25) and Sephora claims it is a $36 value. It comes with 3 Stila Liquid Eyeshadows in the following shades:

  • Rose Gold Retro
  • Smoldering Satin
  • Kitten Karma
L - R (Rose Gold Retro, Smoldering Satin, Kitten Karma)

Shades in the Set
Rose Gold Retro - This shade to me has like a burnt reddish undertone with rose gold
Smoldering Satin - This shade is so hard to describe, it reminds me of metal but has like reflects of different almost purple shades. It reminds me of an edgy smoky eye.
Kitten Karma - This one is my favorite. It's like a light gold, champagne shade. Their original kitten eye shadow was very popular when I first started - for obvious reasons - it's stunning, so I'm glad they made this shade into one of their liquid eyeshadows.

Packaging & Product Review
These are all less than 1 oz each, (0.07 oz) to be exact. The packaging is very modern with a rectangular clear plastic tube and a matte gold twist off cap. When you twist off the cap, it is connected to a wand with a dual sided doe-foot applicator. There is very little fall out, but it definitely has some fall out. So I can't state that it has no fallout what-so-ever. But the colors are so pigmented and stunning. As the name states, they are Glitter Liquid Eyeshadows, so of course there is glitter.

The set is a great way to try them out and test out the colors to see which ones are your favorite but 0.07 oz isn't really much. I've used the Kitten Karma twice, maybe, three times and I can already see the product emptying. Overall on a scale of 5 stars, I would give this set a 4. I'd deduct half a point for the minor fallout and half a point for the amount of product.

How to Apply & When to Wear
After twisting off the cap and pulling out the wand with the applicator, you want to set it on the location you want the product to apply to using swiping motions inward to outward. For example, if you want it on your lid - start at the inner corner and swipe towards your outer corner. This is definitely a product where once you place it, it's not coming off so you'll need to be careful and really only place the product where you want it. I've learned the hard way it's not really something you can blend away without getting glitter all over the rest of your lid. But once it's on where you want it, it's STUNNING.

These are perfect for a night out or a special occasion to make your eyes really stand out. Or heck - even if you want to rock it on a regular day for no reason at all. When I wear these I've gotten multiple compliments on my eyes. Personally, I would only wear these if I were going out or on a special occasion because they're very pigmented. On my normal day-to-day I like to keep a minimal makeup look. But more power to you if you like to rock the bold on a daily.

Other Products Like This
If you're wanting to try other colors, they also have 2 other sets similar to this that had different shades in the sets: Oh My Stars and All That Shimmers & Glows

UD Naked Skin Concealer vs. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

Urban Decay Naked Concealer ($29): This concealer has an okay shade range with 14 shades. The shade I have is Fair Neutral which is my winter shade.

On Sephora's website it claims it is: "An innovative, high-coverage concealer that provides buildable, weightless coverage and leaves an invisible, Naked Skin finish". It also claims it is a "luminous, demi-matte finish" which to me, those are totally contradictory adjectives, lol how is it luminous and matte?

Personally I think it has more of a luminous finish, but it is a little tacky so I always set it with a setting powder. This concealer has a solid 4 stars on Sephora's wesbite. It is full coverage and is extremely blendable, a little goes a long way with this product. I don't notice it interrupting my foundation underneath when applying it and no tugging at the skin.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30): This concealer has a little more shade range with 22 shades. I have 2 shades - one in Vanilla and one in Custard.

On Sephora's website it claims it is: "An award-winning concealer that provides medium-to-full, buildable coverage and corrects, contours, highlights, and perfects."

This concealer in the shade Custard was theeeee concealer to have a few years ago. Every Youtuber I watched used this concealer which has now been replaced by the new hottest concealers on the market Tarte Shape Tape and more recently Too Faced Born This Way. But nonetheless it is still a very popular concealer with a little over 4 star rating on Sephora's website.  I'd agree that it's a medium to buildable coverage. For me, I feel that it dries quickly a little dry for my liking, but I have dry skin so I think it would be a good pick for someone that has oily skin or an oily T-zone.

Out of the two concealers, I would reach for UD over NARS which is crazy because I'm over the moon about their Radiant foundation, although I haven't tried the NARS concealer with the foundation yet! I'll try that next and give you guys an update on what I think.

Below from L to R is UD Fair Neutral, NARS Vanilla, and NARS Custard

Have you tried either of these concealers? What are your thoughts?

Karuna Melting Boost Collection

Karuna is a prestige skin care brand sold at Sephora. They recently came out with a line called the Melting Skin Boost Collection. As shown above, they have the Clarifying, Brightening and Reviving masks; each one for different concerns. They retail for $12 a piece.

Sheet masks have been a huge hit lately. They've been all over social media and all the YouTube beauty gurus have been loving them. I personally love them myself because they make me feel so luxurious and relaxed.

These masks work a little differently than your normal sheet masks because there's an extra step to it. Before you put the sheet mask on, there is the spot melting boost. Basically you put this on the areas you're targeting and they do exactly what the name says, melts into the skin. After you apply the melting boost to the targeted area you can then put the sheet mask on and leave it on until the Boost dissolves. It's actually a genius idea.

The clarifying mask is by far my favorite for obvious reasons if you know about my skin problems. I have an issue with acne and this mask is a spot treatment for acne.
The brightening one is to even out your skin tone, brighten any dullness in your skin, and target sun spots if you have any. This mask is good for normal, oily and combo skin.
The Reviving duo is an anti aging mask and the spot treatment targets the eye area. According to Sephora's website, this one is good for all skin types. I love this one because putting the eye patches under my eyes makes me feel like I'm at a spa doing the ultimate pampering. Plus, who likes crows feet? Not me. So the more I can prevent it, the better.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick Dupe

Too Faced Melted Lipsticks are really popular in the makeup community as well as their new liquid matte lipsticks, but they can get a little expensive. They are priced at $21 a piece. Luckily for those of you on a budget that want the shades of the Too Faced Melted lipsticks, there are 2 dupes for nude/pink shades that I think you guys are going to love! The dupes are from Maybelline from their Color Jolt lipsticks which are priced at $7.70 a piece. Thats a $13.30 difference! You can basically get 3 Maybelline Color Jolts for the price of one Too Faced Melted.
So lets first compare packaging. Both are in squeezy tubes, the Too Faced ones are just a little longer and slimmer. Another difference is the gold details on the Too Faced tubes.
The applicators are also super similar. The only difference is the Too Faced one (top) has multiple tiny holes that the product comes out of and the Maybelline one (bottom), as you can tell in the picture, has one where the product comes out. The formulas are also very similar. I would say the Maybelline is a little bit thicker than the Too Faced.
Above are swatches and you can see the similarities. L to R is Too Faced Nude, Maybelline Stripped Down, Too Faced Peony, Maybelline Never Bare. There are slight difference as Stripped Down is a little darker than Nude and Peony is slightly darker than Never Bare. Still I would consider these to be dupes because of how close they are. Below is a picture of the swatches without natural lighting.

Smith's Rosebud Perfume Co Review

I always see the Rosebud Perfume Co. Lip products at the check out line at Sephora. I purchased their Strawberry tin as an impluse buy around Christmas time and it smelled so good and really hydrated my lips. I wanted to try more from this brand to see if their formulas hold true for all of their products.

Above is the Brambleberry Rose Lip Balm in tube form. This. Smells. So. Good! I really love that they have the option to have their products in a squeeze tube or a tin because some people like the tube and others like the tin. I personally don't have a preference, I think they're both great. The tube is perfect for traveling and the tin is great to keep on your vanity or right next to your bed. The formula on this is thick but when applied to the lips it transforms to a thin consistency. It's not sticky at all which I love! The tube form comes with 0.5 oz which is a decent size. This could definitely last awhile, but because it smells so good I'll probably use it 20 times a day so it might go quick for me!
Above is probably their most popular tin from what I've seen. I have seen this all over the internet before I even knew about the brand. Their tins have 0.8 oz which is a little more than the tubes and the consistency is a little thicker when applied. Both of these retail for $6 so they are pretty affordable! The strawberry tin I purchased was $7 and smelled AMAZING!

After trying these, I really want to stock up on the whole line! Have you tried their products? What are your thoughts on them?

Sephora Play Box Review

Everyone has heard about the beauty subscription boxes from Birchbox to Ipsy, even Walmart and Target have them! But when Sephora launched theirs, I knew I needed in! When they first launched it, it was only available in certain areas, unfortunately mine not being one of them so I was wait listed for what felt like forever. When I saw it was finally available in my area I signed up SO fast with no second thought.

This post is for those of you that have the question, "Is it worth it?". I'm going to list the details of the box and then get into my opinions on it.

1. The box is $10 a month - yes just $10!
2. It comes with 5 samples a month with and added bonus of a perfume sample, so technically 6.
3. It has a mixture between makeup, hair, and skincare.

Here was the first box I received for the month of May:
It came with:
1. Bite Beauty lipstick
2. Tarte lipliner
3. Briogeo deep conditioning hair mask
4. Korres rose savauge brightening sleeping facial
5. Origins skin maskimizer, clear improvements mask, and drink up intensive mask
6. It also came with a perfume but I lost it.
7. Each box also comes with a makeup bag

To be honest I wasn't all that excited for my first box. I mean for $10 I definitely think I got what I paid for in products, but I just wasnt too excited for the products for the month of May. I'll definitely still use them, though. I did; however, love how adorable the little bag was!

Here's what I got for the month of June:

1. Benefit they're real mascara
2. Tarte sunscreen
3. Baremineral liquid bronzer
4. Becca backlight primer
5. Bumble and Bumble dont blow it styler
6. This months box came with a cologne so I ended up throwing it out
7. It also came with a bag similar to last months except it said Play! on it in red letters. I forgot to include that in the picture above.

Now this months box I was super impressed with. I was reeeeeaaallllyyy excited to get the backlight primer from Becca because I've been dying to try it. And I was also excited to get the Tarte sunscreen as I'm going on vacation and I was going to purchase it and now I don't have to!

So in short, yes I think the box is worth it! Only $10 for samples from Sephora when some of their "sample sizes" can cost $20 alone at the check out line what they call "beauty on the fly". Some months will be better than others but thats with any subscription box you get. But this is sephora! They are generous amounts of product so you can test them out for awhile; they'll probably last you about 2-3 weeks depending on how often you use the product and then you can always pick up the full size if you love it. If you hate a product, no worries - give it to a friend or throw it away without feeling guilty because you didnt buy the full product and you have 4 others!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you get the Sephora Play Box and what your thoughts are on it!

Sephora & Ulta Travel Haul

If you've seen my previous post, you know I'll be traveling and I've picked up a few necessities I'll need to take with me on the trip! My previous post was the clothing I hauled for the trip and this post is for the cosmetic products I hauled.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer
After seeing Nicole Guerriero and Casey Holmes rave about this foundation, I HAD to get it. They both love full coverage foundations like myself so if it worked for them I'm praying it works for me too! I'm super excited to test this baby out. I wanted something that was full coverage but would last all day through heat with a natural finish (not matte and not completely dewy either). I will definitely have a full review of this after our vaca! I unfortunately had to order this product because they didnt have my shade in stock anywhere near me so I just got it in today. Here's an update with the pictures!

My birthday gift (6 months late lol)
Soooo my birthday is in January and I JUST got my birthday gift now. A little late, don't you think? But that's the great thing about Sephora, if you haven't had a chance to pick up your birthday gift til months later, they'll still honor it! They usually give two options each year. This year was this Marc Jacobs mini set and there was another choice of a Fresh beauty skin care mini set. I really want that one too, though!

100 Point Perk Hourglass Primer
I love the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer so I figured I'd give this one a go for a little freebie!

Soap and Glory
I've been hearing non-stop about this company so I figured the best way was to try the travel sizes since I'll be traveling and can't take the full sizes with me on a plane. I always love mini sizes to test out because if I don't like it then I don't feel so bad about wasting a ton of product and if I end up loving it then I can purchase the full size eventually when I run out of the travel size. I picked up the scrub and body butter.

Sun Bum
This is another brand I've heard nothing but good things about. Someone recommended the SunBum chapsticks to me so I had to pick those up. I actually went to Target the one day and they had not one, not two, but THREE trays of them that were completely empty. I was so sad! Then a few days later I went to Ulta and they were stocked! I also wanted to get sunscreen because we'll be outside a lot of the time and have to protect our skin! I used to be the girl with the tanning oil with no SPF what-so-ever but now that I've been into skincare lately I know that SPF is necessary.

NYX Liquid Lipsticks in Satin Ribbon, Baby Doll, and Lace Detail
I've had my eyes on these since they came out and I finally just got around to getting them. They all look SUPER similar in the tube, but I promise they each have different undertones, some slightly darker than others. I know these are pretty popular so I'll have a full review on these after the vaca also to let you all know how the formula is and how they wear.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
I have a bad habit of picking at my face so I'm hoping this helps if I just put it on as a spot treatment at night.

Hydrating sheet masks
I knew I wanted sheet masks for hydration but I didn't know which ones were good so I kind of just grabbed the first two I saw that said "hydrating" lol. My skin is super sensitive and dry so it needs hydration. I figured I would wear one on the plane there and one on the way back.

What are your must have products when traveling?

Amazing Cosmetics Concealer Illuminate Review

Amazing Concealer Illuminate $30.00

In my opinion, the more glowy, the better! This concealer fits that perfectly. To be completely honest, I really didn't think I was going to like this concealer. I didn't think an illuminating concealer would look right underneath my eyes where I typically highlight, but I was wrong. It is definitely luminous and in my personal opinion I think you have to set this concealer otherwise it will crease, but it is sooo creamy and blendable! I think this is a great concealer for summertime. It's lightweight but so dewy, hydrated and makes you look awake.

drybar Extend Your Blowout Kit Review

Drybar is a luxury haircare brand sold at Sephora and they also have their own dry "bars"; basically a bar where you get beautiful blowouts. There are 57 locations throughout the US (which you can find here) and I'm super jealous there isn't one close to me. Then again I should be thankful because then my pockets would be empty from getting blowouts all the time!

They are known for having their statement bright yellow products which I love! It makes their brand really stand out. I was really excited when I got the opportunity to test out their products and I was NOT disappointed. I've heard so many great things about this brand and all the reviews I've heard held true.

I received the Extend Your Blowout Kit which I am sooo thankful for because I found some holy grail products. The kit is priced at just $29 and it's a $52 value! It includes a brush, a travel size dry shampoo, a travel size dry conditioner (that's right, I said dry conditioner), and a cute shower cap to preserve your blowout.

The travel size dry shampoo & dry conditioner are 1.3 oz and perfect size to throw in your purse for on the go.

The dry shampoo is used to soak up oils when you're on that second or third day hair. It keeps your hair looking like it was just freshly washed and blown out. It smells so good too; like a clean scent. I've been looking for a dry shampoo (that actually works) for awhile! I've tried a few but none of them actually work. They all leave my hair feeling even more gross than it did natural with the oils or they don't smell good. This one gives me the best of both worlds by smelling good and doing it's job.

The dry conditioner is probably what I'm most excited about. I've heard of dry shampoo before, but never have I heard of a dry conditioner and let me tell youuuu - my hair NEEDS some conditioning. Lately, I don't know if it was the cold weather or what, but my hair has been SUPER dry. The minute I spray this all over my hair it feels revived. It's super softening and smoothing and it also makes it 100 times easier to run my fingers through. It also claims to help detangle which I completely agree with. I seriously need a full size of this (or 3) in stock in my bathroom so I can douse my hair in this every day.

This brush is also travel size which is, again, perfect to throw in your bag on the go. I love that it's bright yellow and it detangles very well without tearing a bunch of strands out. I have that issue a lot with brushes where they tug at my hair and rip out more strands than need be. This one is gentle and so cute!

The last thing in the kit is a shower cap. It's lined with a nice material, not just plastic. So it feels comfortable while it's on. I love the cute small "db" detailing all over it. It keeps out all the moisture when you're taking a shower so you can save that blowout for more than a day!

Overall if you're looking to try out the brand as a whole or you just need some traveling hair tools, this kit is PERFECT!

Amuse Bouche Lipsticks by Bite Beauty

I had a surprise on my doorstep last week and it was a box from Influenster! If you don't know what Influenster is, basically when you sign up you answer your "Snaps" which are just questions about things you've tried before, what you like, etc. It's not always about makeup, though. Sometimes it's food, other times it's electronics. The more active you are and the more points you have the more likely you are to get what they call their "VoxBox". I was randomly selected but I was sooo excited when I found out it was a Bite Beauty VoxBox. If you've followed me for awhile you know that Bite Beauty lip products are my jaaaammmm. You can also review products on Influenster.

They sent 3 of Bite Beauty's new Amuse Bouche lipsticks. The shades they sent are Pepper, Gazpacho, and Beetroot. They are all stuunnnninnngg and so pigmented! I didn't expect anything less from Bite, though. My favorite out of the three is, of course, Pepper because it's a neutral shade. I'm all about those nudes.

The packaging is sleek per usual with matte grey, almost rubber like feel to it. I don't know how to describe it but I love it. I also love the "B" imprint in the actual lipstick as well as the "bite" at the bottom of the tube. It's the little details that matter.

The formula is very comfortable and hydrating. They have a slight sheen to them. I literally want to purchase every nude shade from this line!

L to R: Beetroot, Pepper, Gazpacho

Peter Thomas Roth Exfoliating Peel Review

This, my friends, is magical! I'll explain why. I've had this sample sitting in my sample stash for quite some time now. I never reached for it because I had no idea how to use it or what it was for. Until I watched a Nicole Guerriero video and I had my "AHA!" moment. You apply this little guy to clean, dry skin and rub in circular motions. After rubbing for a little bit, you start to see clumps of something mysterious forming. Those clumps are dead skin! You physically see the dead skin being removed. It's amazing and creepy at the same time but it's really incredible to see your product actually working right then and there. This product is not abrasive at all so I would say it would be okay for people with sensitive skin to use it. Once I rinsed it off with warm water, my skin felt SO smooth. Like smoother than I've ever felt my skin before. I will absolutely be purchasing a full size (and no this is not a sponsored post and they did not send me this product). I am a really big believer in PTR skincare. Everything I've tried thus far has been incredible. Highly recommend this product eveb at it's steep $48 price point.

Holiday Haul

Since the holidays are here that usually means sales are too. So there are a few things I picked up over the past couple weeks here and there from Sephora, Bath and Body Works, MAC, and Victorias Secret that I thought I'd share to inspire people for gifts for others or yourself. (I'm still waiting on my Anastasia order from Cyber Monday)

First is this beauty! The YSL Pur Couture Collection. This baby is $50 but if you got the coupons from Sephora if you're a Rouge it would be $25 off, for VIBs it would be $20 off and for Beauty Insiders it would be $15 off! A really good deal for 4 YSL lipsticks. I was going to purchase just the Le Nu until I sas this baby and I thought to myself that I really dont go through lipsticks all thag often so I'll snag this while I can. I'm almost positive it's sold out online but my Sephora had only 3 left so check your local sephora and ask if they have any in the back.

This was a 500 point perk at Sephora and I normally dont go for their perks unless theres something great and this, my friend, is great. I cant wait to try all of these!

After this purchase I will never order again from Nordstrom. I got 3 separate packages and it took 4 weeks to get all of my complete order. The first box I got was just samples - super disappointing. The second box was just the lipstick set and the last one I received was finally the Gold Bar highlighter. Forewarning to all of you these are SUPER tiny. Like fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand tiny and STILL have room.  But they're beautiful nonetheless. I'm not entirely impressed with the gold bar packaging. I expected it to be metal and it's more like cardboard.

A mini haul from Sephora because they were having goodie bags. I wanted the white beautyblender to apply my moisturizers and primers. I had to replenish my KVD tattoo liner and I sampled the MUFE hydrating primer and loved it so I had to pick it up. I also picked up 2 Sephora masks not realizing I got 2 of the same but they're only $6!

This baby is the big kahuna! This has been sold out for weeks and I've been trying to figure out a way to get my hands on it without paying an arm and a leg. Luckily for me someone on Instagram was feeling generous on Thanksgiving and was selling it for less than double the price. That's usually all I ask when purchasing something limited edition. That's my limit. If it's anything over double the price I won't even look at it. But thank you so so much to the wonderful soul that sold me this.

I have an Angel card with VS and these babies were on sale buy 2 get 2 free and I couldn't oass that up. Good stocking stuffers for others :)

Bath and Body had a one day sale where all 3 wick candles were $12 PLUS you got a free gift that you got to choose as long as it was under $13 so I chose this cute snowflake candle holder.
