Stila Liquid Eyeshadow Review: Glitter On The Go Set

Sephora has a Stila gift set on their website called Glitter On The Go Set for ($25) and Sephora claims it is a $36 value. It comes with 3 Stila Liquid Eyeshadows in the following shades:

  • Rose Gold Retro
  • Smoldering Satin
  • Kitten Karma
L - R (Rose Gold Retro, Smoldering Satin, Kitten Karma)

Shades in the Set
Rose Gold Retro - This shade to me has like a burnt reddish undertone with rose gold
Smoldering Satin - This shade is so hard to describe, it reminds me of metal but has like reflects of different almost purple shades. It reminds me of an edgy smoky eye.
Kitten Karma - This one is my favorite. It's like a light gold, champagne shade. Their original kitten eye shadow was very popular when I first started - for obvious reasons - it's stunning, so I'm glad they made this shade into one of their liquid eyeshadows.

Packaging & Product Review
These are all less than 1 oz each, (0.07 oz) to be exact. The packaging is very modern with a rectangular clear plastic tube and a matte gold twist off cap. When you twist off the cap, it is connected to a wand with a dual sided doe-foot applicator. There is very little fall out, but it definitely has some fall out. So I can't state that it has no fallout what-so-ever. But the colors are so pigmented and stunning. As the name states, they are Glitter Liquid Eyeshadows, so of course there is glitter.

The set is a great way to try them out and test out the colors to see which ones are your favorite but 0.07 oz isn't really much. I've used the Kitten Karma twice, maybe, three times and I can already see the product emptying. Overall on a scale of 5 stars, I would give this set a 4. I'd deduct half a point for the minor fallout and half a point for the amount of product.

How to Apply & When to Wear
After twisting off the cap and pulling out the wand with the applicator, you want to set it on the location you want the product to apply to using swiping motions inward to outward. For example, if you want it on your lid - start at the inner corner and swipe towards your outer corner. This is definitely a product where once you place it, it's not coming off so you'll need to be careful and really only place the product where you want it. I've learned the hard way it's not really something you can blend away without getting glitter all over the rest of your lid. But once it's on where you want it, it's STUNNING.

These are perfect for a night out or a special occasion to make your eyes really stand out. Or heck - even if you want to rock it on a regular day for no reason at all. When I wear these I've gotten multiple compliments on my eyes. Personally, I would only wear these if I were going out or on a special occasion because they're very pigmented. On my normal day-to-day I like to keep a minimal makeup look. But more power to you if you like to rock the bold on a daily.

UD Naked Skin Concealer vs. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Review

Urban Decay Naked Concealer ($29): This concealer has an okay shade range with 14 shades. The shade I have is Fair Neutral which is my winter shade.

On Sephora's website it claims it is: "An innovative, high-coverage concealer that provides buildable, weightless coverage and leaves an invisible, Naked Skin finish". It also claims it is a "luminous, demi-matte finish" which to me, those are totally contradictory adjectives, lol how is it luminous and matte?

Personally I think it has more of a luminous finish, but it is a little tacky so I always set it with a setting powder. This concealer has a solid 4 stars on Sephora's wesbite. It is full coverage and is extremely blendable, a little goes a long way with this product. I don't notice it interrupting my foundation underneath when applying it and no tugging at the skin.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30): This concealer has a little more shade range with 22 shades. I have 2 shades - one in Vanilla and one in Custard.

On Sephora's website it claims it is: "An award-winning concealer that provides medium-to-full, buildable coverage and corrects, contours, highlights, and perfects."

This concealer in the shade Custard was theeeee concealer to have a few years ago. Every Youtuber I watched used this concealer which has now been replaced by the new hottest concealers on the market Tarte Shape Tape and more recently Too Faced Born This Way. But nonetheless it is still a very popular concealer with a little over 4 star rating on Sephora's website.  I'd agree that it's a medium to buildable coverage. For me, I feel that it dries quickly a little dry for my liking, but I have dry skin so I think it would be a good pick for someone that has oily skin or an oily T-zone.

Out of the two concealers, I would reach for UD over NARS which is crazy because I'm over the moon about their Radiant foundation, although I haven't tried the NARS concealer with the foundation yet! I'll try that next and give you guys an update on what I think.

Below from L to R is UD Fair Neutral, NARS Vanilla, and NARS Custard

Have you tried either of these concealers? What are your thoughts?

Foundation Crisis

Many of you saw that I posted on my Instagram yesterday (@beautyandablog) about me picking up a full size Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Ecru. I also filmed, edited and posted a video talking about this specific shade. You can see the video here. Unfortunately I am suuuuuper disappointed. It's an extremely long story BUT I feel like it needs to be explained. Don't get me wrong, I still am absolutely in love with this foundation and the formula, but you'll understand why I'm disappointed in a moment. So I got a sample of Ecru which matched me PERFECTLY, I ran out of the sample and decided to get a full size. After filming and such, I for some reason had a feeling I should swatch it.

Turns out the full size was significantly darker than the sample. I asked for help as to why this was and people gave me explanations as to possible oxidization or possible formula change, but I decided to go to the Estee Lauder counter myself to get to the bottom of this. Odd enough, the employees had NO idea why this was they even checked their own full size bottles and it matched my full size bottle; however, the foundation that they had to give out as samples for Ecru was the exact same, lighter shade as the sample I previously had. I am so upset that I can't get my match all because they have 2 completely different shades - one as a sample that doesnt even match the shade, and then the shade itself. I hope all of this is making sense because I know it's very confusing. I'm just super frustrated 😩

The picture above was taken yesterday. I know the lighting is really bad so both of these shades look too dark for me, but the bottom shade actually matches me perfectly. The top shade is from the full size bottle and the bottom is from the sample. Both foundations are Ecru. So I exchanged the darker Ecru and now have to use a lighter shade foundation because they dont have Ecru in the same shade as their Ecru sample. πŸ˜” Has this happened to anyone else ?!?

Now, below are swatches of Ivory Nude (the foundation I exchanged Ecru for) and you can clearly tell its a little too yellow for my skin tone. The middle is what I could scrape out of my first sample and the bottom is the new sample of Ecru they gave me. You can see both of the Ecru samples are the same, but are different from the full size Ecru. πŸ˜©πŸ˜” So now what does a girl do? Am I supposed to just keep asking for samples of Ecru since that's my match? Or do I go with the lighter shade that is too yellow for me?

Too Faced Foundation

Looks like we have a launch date ladies and gents! There has been numerous pictures flying around the internet of a mysterious Too Faced foundation bottle with the name Born This Way on it. We now have confirmation that this will be releasing June 15th and if I heard correctly, it will be a toofaced.com exclusive! It is a medium-full coverage foundation and there appear to be 12 shades. No word on how much this will be but my guess is probably $36-$40 ish. I'm actually really excited about this. I love TF as a brand and I've never tried anything other than their powders so I'm anxious to try a liquid foundation by them.

What's New? | NYX and Makeup Geek

I just got an email from NYX with information on a new "to-go" palette! There are 6 eyeshadows, a bronzer, a blush, and a highlight! How incredibly awesome is this for traveling and better yet, a drugstore purchase ?! The downside is they are $17 a piece which if you think about it, isn't too awful because you're getting 9 different products in one palette so that's roughly $1.89 a piece. The neutral one is called Wanderlust and the more colorful one is Bon Voyage. This is now available on the NYX website.

Also, something amazing has come about. @MakeupGeekTV on Instagram posted these sneak peek pictures. It appears they are branching out from just shadows and brushes. They are now working on what they're calling Cashmere Lip Creams! Sounds to me like liquid lipsticks. And my goodness these colors look beautiful!

Amazing Deal!!!!!!

I just wanted to update all of you on a deal my good friend, Caitlin made me aware of.

There is a company called BeautyKind that sells beauty products such as Laura Geller, Glamglow, and Butter London and they give 5% of the orders to a charity of your choosing. I absolutely LOVE that this is a beauty company that wants to give back.

For a very limited time they are offering a FREE $50 gift card to customers to build up their following. If you have exactly $50 in your cart it will be completely free. If you have $49 or under you will only need to pay for shipping which is $5.95. If you have over $50, shipping will be free but you will have to pay the difference. So if you have $58.50 in your cart you will only need to pay $8.50. I personally have placed an order myself and have received  a confirmation email almost immediately afterwards so this is legit.

Click on the link below and use coupon code: love50 at check out!

It is a bit pricey, but you are getting 6 FULL size bronzers and a full size kabuki brush for $198 when original cost would be $274! New on the Market: Drugstore & High End

Hi babes! Sorry I've been MIA lately, I've been super busy with YouTube and a bunch of other stuff. So let's just dive in to the new goodies that will be or have already released!

First up is a NYX product that will be coming out in June. SOOOOO soon! This is their new Liquid Suede lipstick. I can't imagine these being any more than $5 - $8 seeing as they're drugstore, although their prices have been increasing a lot lately. It looks like they made some beautiful neutral colors I can't wait to get my hands on that pink one!

Next is 6 Long Lasting 16 hour blushes by Too Faced. These have cute heart packaging and adorable names! These are a part of their Fall 2015 line so I'm not sure when these will be releasing. I'm assuming possibly in August? And do I spy their new foundation in the background?! "Born This Way" is what it is called. That should be releasing around the same time. I've never tried a Too Faced foundation so I'm excited to try that. I think I definitely want to get my hands on the Baby Love blush too! Eeeeek, I'm already starting a Fall wish list and it's not even officially Summer!

Next are the Maybelline Creamy Matte lipsticks. These have been the talk of the town all over the place. But, wait, because there's more! They are coming out with ten new shades that will be permanent! Clay Crush looks beautiful for Spring! OMG. I'm not sure if these are out already or not, but check your local drugstores and Ulta's because they may be sneaking onto the shelves already.
Last is a new line from e.l.f. called Beautifully Bare which includes a blush ($4), blending brush ($6), foundation serum ($8), lash tint mascara ($4), defining mascara ($4), and a lip tint (not pictured $5) . They mentioned on their Instagram that there is a limited quantity for their launch so hurry while these last! I am definitely interested in getting the blush, foundation serum and that blending brush!
