SALE!: Tarte on QVC

Hi viewers!

QVC is having some pretty good sales on Tarte cosmetics! Go check it out. If you were looking into getting the Tartelette palette but weren't sure about it, now is your chance to get an awesome deal on it! $36.36 for the palette AND a brush. That's less than the price for just the palette alone. I wish I would've waited for this deal. Wahhhh *insert pouty face*. You can see my review on the Tartelette palette here.

Happy shopping!

Year Of The Contour

As many of you may have noticed, contouring kits and tools have become a huge hit this year. Almost every makeup company is coming out with them, including some drug store brands! And they just keep pouring out! Here are most of the contour kits that are available ranging from $12-$50.
NYX Wonder Contour Stick $11.99
For being so affordable, I'm surprised I haven't heard much about this product since contouring it the latest thing. Unfortunately I don't have much to say about it because I haven't personally tried it and haven't heard any reviews on it. So if you've tried it, comment what you're experience was with it!

Sephora Contouring 101 Face Palette $28
This palette looks pretty interesting to me. This is another one I have not heard many reviews on which I suppose is because it's pretty new to the market. But at $28 it's not a bad price.
NYX Contour Kit $30
This palette I'm a little iffy on. It's NYX, which means it's a drug store brand, yet it's $30. But let's do the math: the palette is $30 and it has 8 shades (that are interchangeable) that means each individual shade is $3.75 which honestly is a great deal! Plus the palette is re-usable so I guess you're getting a pretty good deal on this!
LancĂ´me Le Duo Stick $36
This is a dual-ended highlight and contour stick with 5 different shades to choose from. These don't really speak to me, but it's pretty much the high end version of the NYX Wonder Stick I mentioned above.
Tarte Park Ave Princess Contour Kit $36
This palette is so pretty! You get a bronzer in Park Ave Princess, highlighter in Champagne Gold, and blush in Posh all in one and it is just such pretty colors. This really appeals to me and I was afraid it was limited edition and thankfully it's not!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit $40
Anastasia, you started it all! This was one of the first contour kits on the market that everyone had to have and now because of this one palette there are tons similar to it! This is the high end version of the NYX palette. It is $10 more and only 6 shades instead of 8, but from what I hear about this palette, it is amazing blazing!
Becca Lowlight/Highlight Palette $42
So we all know that Becca's blushes and highlighters are bomb dot com, so maybe their contouring creams will be just as good. The only downside to this is that it only comes in one shade which is pictured below.
Smashbox Trio $45
Oh my goodness, give me! Jaclyn Hill raved about these contour sticks and now I need them in my life. They just seem so convenient, especially for traveling. The set includes a bronzer, a highlighter, and a contour as well as a sharpener!
Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour $45
This is pretty much the palette version of the trio sticks. So if you aren't really gravitating towards the sticks and want a palette, this is for you! It also comes with the angled brush as shown in the image.
Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette $46
This palette has soooo much hype right now. I've heard this is better than the Anastasia contour kit but shhhh! You didn't hear that from me. I definitely have my eye on this palette, but I don't think I would get any use out of the darkest shade because of how fair I am. But this is a very popular contour palette at the moment. The shades it comes with are as followed:
Light powder in Lucid (pinkish nude), Lyric (yellow beige), Levitation (soft peach)
Sombre (true taupe), Shadowplay (soft brown), Subconscious (deep brown)

Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Palette $48
The good thing about this palette is that it comes in 11 different shades so there is a wide variety of colors to suit each person's skin tone. The somewhat downside is that this says it is just a "touch up" palette. I haven't heard too much on this palette so I'm not sure how true that is and I don't know if it can be used as a true contour palette, but it's definitely great for on the go to touch up your contour and highlight throughout the day. This palette includes:
Skin Foundation Stick, Corrector, Creamy Concealer, and a Sheer Finish Pressed Powder
Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring Palette $50
This palette is personally too dark for my complexion, but for all you deep toned women out there, this is perfect for you! It's definitely on the pricey side, but I know there aren't a ton of options out there for darker girls unfortunately. But the price might be worth it for you if you're having a hard time finding a contour kit to fit your needs. This palette includes Contour #1, Contour in Medium #2, Deep #3, Highlight #1, and Highlight #2
Do you have any of these contour kits? If so, which ones and what are your thoughts on it?!

5 Goals For February

Since February is only two days away (um how in the world did that even happen? Wasn't New Years just yesterday?!) I thought I would share my goals with all of you. I'm all about setting goals and accomplishing them and this year is no different than last. I have a few long term goals as well, but these are just my monthly goals I want to accomplish in February!

1. Go through some things and get rid of them either by throwing them away or selling on eBay!

2. Get 7,000 views this month. I know you all can get me there because you got me to 5,500 views last month which was insane to me! I am so grateful for all of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you all so much!

3. Get to 1,000 followers on all of my social media accounts! You can click on the buttons at the top of the page to get to my accounts :)

4. Get some starter filming equipment so I can get my YouTube channel up and running.

5. Lose 10 pounds/get fit. I'm only 115 at the moment, but I want to lose that extra 10 pounds. Of course I'm going to continue eating everything I always do, I'll just be eating smaller portions. To find out tips on how to lose weight, see my old post How I Lost 30 Pounds In Less Than 6 Months.

Bonus: Okay, maybe make that 6 goals for February lol. Get my own domain name. Watch out! You might be seeing a new name in the near future ;)

What are some of your monthly/annual goals?

Skincare, Bath & Body: Drug Store Edition

Bouncing off of my previous post of my favorite drug store makeup, I thought it was only right to continue with my favorite skincare and bath & body products from the drug store!

So let's jump right in!

Skincare

Freeman Masks (Ulta $3.99)
These are the best masks I've found so far that aren't a crazy, ridiculous price. They have clay masks, exfoliating scrubs, and peel-offs. I have quite a few of these and every one that I've tried was great.
Shea Moisture African Black Soap (Walmart $3.47, Ulta $4.99)
If you've followed me for quite some time, you've seen me mention this product quite a few times. This is such a great face wash for those that have acne prone skin like myself. If you over use it, it can be a little drying, but as long as you moisturize, you'll be fine!
Montagne Jeunesse Single Use Masks (Ulta $1.99)
The first mask I tried was their chocolate mask. It smells just like chocolate and I fell in love. I wanted to try every single mask this brand had. The only problem I have with this brand is that they only sell single use masks. I wish they sold tubes like Freeman does. Otherwise, awesome masks!

Bath & Body

Degree Girl Just Dance Invisible Deodorant (Walmart $2.47)
As much as I like fresh smelling things and floral scents, this deodorant stuck out to me because it has a different smell than most deodorants. The packaging is a little more for teenagers, but otherwise I love it.
Bodycology Exfoliating Sugar Scrub XOXO (Walmart $5.95)
This was an impulse buy for me. I've heard so much about sugar scrubs and I smelled it in the store and absolutely loved it! How I used it: I shaved, then scrubbed this all over my legs, and shaved again - I've never had such smooth legs before!
Shower Gel Suave Sweet Pea & Violet (Dollar Store $2)
My signature scent is Sweet Pea so this is just perfect for me. It's just an affordable, wonderful smelling shower gel.
Organix Hair Care Line (Walmart $5.74, Ulta $7.99 - $13.99)
Organix has a wide range of hair care products from shampoo & conditioner to oils and hair masks. They're affordable and awesome products. I personally don't use them enough and I should.

L'Oreal Total Repair Damage-Erasing Balm (Walmart $5.97)
This stuff is a life saver. I don't trust too many products from the drugstore, especially for my hair because many of them contain Sulfates, but this one does not and it works like a gem. Your hair will instantly feel softer after rinsing this out. This is one of my holy grail hair masks! I might even like this better than some high end ones - that's how BALM dot com this stuff is!

Do you have any skincare or bath & body products from the drugstore that you're loving?

Favorites: Drug Store Edition

I feel like I don't do enough drug store posts for you lovelies and I know that some of you are on a tight budget or are single mothers that may not get help. So this one's for you! This is going to be just drug store makeup so I hope you enjoy!

*Take note that Walmart prices are cheaper than Ulta prices, so be sure to check there for a product first before heading over to Ulta!

Makeup

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk (Ulta $4.49)
In my previous post that talks about makeup struggles, I talked about my struggle with eyeshadow and someone recommended this product to me. I have an issue with my eyeshadow actually showing up. I feel like I can pack on the color for dayyyys and it still won't look like I have any eyeshadow on. This baby definitely helps with that issue. Put this on before your eyeshadow and it almost acts as a primer, only better. It really intensifies your shadows.
NYX HD Photogenic Concealer (Ulta $4.99)
This was my holy grail concealer for the longest time and I see myself going back to it once I finish the concealer that I've been using. It has great coverage, it's creamy, and it's affordable. What more could you want in a concealer? The only issue I had with this is that it didn't last very long.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams (Ulta $5.99)
There is a variety of gorgeous colors in these liquid to matte lip creams. They're almost like the affordable version of all these liquid lipsticks coming out. Some people claim they're too drying, but the solution with that is just applying lip balm on prior to applying them!
NYX Butter Glosses (Ulta $4.99)
These babies are like the sister to the soft matte lip creams. They're pigmented and smooth and come in a variety of colors. NYX recently came out with new intense butter glosses which are exactly that - intense. You can find swatches in my New From NYX post!
NYX Pore Filler Primer (Ulta $13.99)
I actually bought this quite awhile ago and I don't remember it being $13.99 because that seems a bit high for a drug store brand to me. But regardless, I love this stuff. It's like a dupe for Benefit's Porefessional that everyone raves about.

NYX Illuminator in Ritualistic (Ulta $8.99)
This highlighter is gorgeous! Super pigmented and just all around beautiful. I think this is definitely a product more for fair skin and it almost reminds me of a dupe for Becca Moonstone. This was my go-to for such a long time and it's never let me down!
NYX Round Lipstick in Thalia (Ulta $3.99)
I actually saw this on Pinterest awhile ago and finally decided to go out on a whim and pick it up a few months ago and I cannot put this lipstick down. This right here is my holy grail and I am constantly reaching for it. The color is really hard to describe but I'll attempt to. It's like a nude, pink, mauve-y color. Purrrrrfection! The image looks more pink than anything, but I promise it's not.
---------------------------------------------------------- Can everyone tell I love NYX yet? Lol.

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream 8-in-1 (Walmart $7.44 , Ulta $8.99)
I don't wear BB creams too often just because I really like full coverage, but this gives me enough coverage and it has many benefits and it claims to clear your skin plus it is oil free. The 8 benefits this product claims to have is: clear acne, conceal imperfections, minimize look of pores, reduce appearance of redness, adjust to skin tone, hydrate, smooth, enhance skin
Maybelline Baby Skin Primer (Walmart $5.94, Ulta $6.99)
This is another product everyone is always talking about. I don't have much to say about it other than it does it's job!
Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hour Lipstick in Wine & Forever (Walmart $6.94, Ulta $8.99)
I know the image makes it look a little more on the brown side, but if you know me, you would know I'm not a fan of any lipsticks that have any kind of brown undertone. In person, I promise this is more of a deep red, wine, burgundy color. It's just gorgeous, especially for fall. I'm not sure about the 14 hour claim because I've never worn it for that long, but it's still a beautiful color for a great price.

Maybelline Matte Lipsticks in Divine Wine and Lust for Blush (Walmart $5.50 each, Ulta $7.99 each)
These matte lippies from Maybelline were a huge hit and were sold out pretty much everywhere! Thankfully I got my hands on the two that I wanted and I'm so glad I did. Divine Wine is another deep wine color that is great for fall and Lust For Blush is a gorgeous pinky-mauve color that is works for an everyday color.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick (I usually use this for cream contouring) (Walmart $6.94, Ulta $8.99)
I truthfully didn't expect to like this product, but honestly it is perfect for cream contouring. It is very blendable and the stick makes it easy to make the lines for your contour.
---------------------------------------------------------- Apparently I like Maybelline too? Haha

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer (Walmart $6)
I know the package says "heavy duty" but girrrrrrl, let me tell you heavy duty is a perfect description for this concealer. You want redness, blemishes, scars, even tattoos gone? This is the stuff to use! This is what I've been using pretty much every day since I got it and what I've learned is that a little bit of this goes a long way. I'm talking like two dots will cover your entire face. Don't believe me? Try it!

ELF Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls (I couldn't find this product in their online inventory)
Normally e.l.f. products run between $1 - $5 so I can't imagine this being any more than that. This is a very pretty champagne, pearl highlighter
Neutrogena Shine Control Foundation (Ulta $13.99)
This was actually the first liquid foundation I ever tried and I fell in love. It's oil free, it lasts, and it's just a great foundation for me. I don't hear too many people talking about it, though and I feel like they should be.

Neutrogena Shine Control Powder (Ulta $12.99)
I first tried this product and I could've swore it looked like I had flour or to be extreme, cocaine, on my face. It looked like I just had white on my face. Needless to say, I tried applying it with a brush instead of the applicator that comes with it and I loved it. It sets my makeup flawlessly and it stays all day.

L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara (Walmart $5.84, Ulta $7.99)
Hands down, my holy grail mascara. I've heard people talking about the Voluminous Carbon Black mascara that I'm wanting to try to compare the two, but until then, this is my baby. It separates my lashes, doesn't clump, and makes them look full. BANG!
L'Oreal True Match Foundation (Walmart $6.42 - $8.97 , Ulta $9.99)
I tried this foundation because of a few referrals and when I first tried it, I hated it. I absolutely hated it. I tried it a second time and I still didn't like it. Then I ran out of my favorite foundation (Neutrogena Shine Control) and I had to use this since it was the only thing sitting in my drawer at the time. Now I use the True Match daily and I'm almost out! I get just enough coverage and it doesn't make me oily.

Revlon Lipstick in Honey Bare (Walmart $4.97 , Ulta $7.99)
If I'm looking for a nude lip, this is the color I grab for. It's just the perfect everyday nude. No other words needed!

What are your holy grails or favorites from the drugstore?!

Worst of 2014

I did a Best of 2014 post back in December and I know it's already 2015, but I figured since we're still in January I can get away with it (shhh!) Today I want to share with you what I think were the worst products of 2014 and why. Thankfully I only have a handful and there aren't a ton of products that I was disappointed with.

Here are the ones I wasn't too pleased with:

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer
I like creamy concealer and this was just too thick of a consistency for me. It wasn't very blendable and the coverage is awful.

Benefit Erase Paste Concealer
This concealer is a little bit more creamy than the Boi-ing, but still not one that I'm a fan of. This goes in the regret bucket.

Physicians Formula Youthful Wear
It is a struggle and a half to get any product out of the metal roller balls on each end. There is a yellow side and a light side and both sides are so difficult to get product out. I feel like if this were in another package I might feel differently about it.

Maybelline Dream Bounce Blush
It is so difficult to work with this blush because of the thick, bouncy consistency. you have to tug at your skin to get this on and I just don't feel like it's worth it. It's a good concept, but not very well thought out I guess.

Lush's Santa's Lip Scrub
This was one of my first purchases from Lush. I love the brand itself and the fact that everything is fresh and handmade, but this is one of their products I wasn't too impressed with. This product was limited edition for the holidays and I believe it retails for about $8 USD. For $8 you definitely get a large amount that will last awhile, but that isn't the issue I had with this. My problem with this product is that it is very messy. I literally need to stand over a sink when I use this because it falls everywhere. Otherwise, it tastes good and the product is good, it's just very messy.

Urban Decay Potion Primer
Everyone swears by this eye primer and I can't see why. My shadows don't apply any better and the duration of time they stay on isn't any longer than normal.

L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara
I absolutely hated the wand for this. It bends at the most awkward spot (you can see the little divot in the picture) and the brush is all wrong too. The brush is tapered and is meant to get your lashes in the inner corner but it's just awful. It doesn't work well and I barely get any product on the brush when I take it out. I will not be repurchasing this one.

Revlon Color Stay Foundation
I don't really have much to say about this foundation other than I don't like it. I only used it a few times and those few times I knew I didn't like it. This was just a fail for me. It claims to be a 24 hour wear foundation and I don't even think it lasted me 8.
What products do you regret buying?
